RRM Design Group created a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified 15,400 sf fire station facility for the City of Los Angeles. Sustainable features include highly efficient mechanical units, recycled content materials, and energy efficient roofing. The second new fire station designed and certified under the City’s Fire Bond Program, this full fire station on the southeast corner of Sunland Boulevard and Tuxford Street in Sun Valley contains three heavy apparatus bays, three light apparatus bays, work rooms, sleeping rooms, restrooms, a locker room, showers, and a fitness and training facility that can accommodate three captains and paramedic and firefighting personnel. The project also provides on-site staging areas for additional equipment (in the event of hillside fires in the area), on-site fueling areas, public access, and adequate parking for all personnel at shift changes.
